Other Intense Heat Cooking
There are other things that can benefit from being cooked with intense heat. For example, if you're making a chuck or pot roast, while you'll want to do most of the cooking low and slow, you might like the taste of the meat if it's quickly seared before roasting. The cast iron skillet is your tool.
Or you might want some hash browns. If you've ever tried to make them in a regular non-stick fry pan, you've probably been disappointed. If you're making a lot of hash browns, the cast iron skillet is the tool, but if you're just making enough for yourself, the wok would work, too.

And think about how interesting tailgating can be with your portable burner stand and wok. (Be careful about loading things back in the car, but you'll find that these things can cool-down fairly fast.) Take your wok and burner on a camping trip, too!
Once you unleash the power of heat, and can successfully sear or quick fry, you may find that your urge to go out to eat won't come out as often. And when you do go out, you'll be more interested in those complex flavors. You won't need your quick-fix of seared steak, or crisp stir fry. You'll be getting those things at home now!
