Go Fly A Kite 32004 Flamingo Windwheel

I like bright colors. I like things that move. I have a whole bunch of pinwheels and other bright colored decorations that spin in the wind, and I thought this would be a great addition.

It was far more difficult to assemble than the simple pinwheels. The various parts hold thier shapes and curves through the tension of the plastic framework. It's difficult to not only get the tension, but then insert the pieces of the frame into each other.

After I assembled it, it looked magnificent! When I made the tail spin by hand, it looked beautiful. All the parts moved smoothly. I was sure that it had been worth the effort to put it together.

I stuck it in the yard near some pinwheels. Nothing. It pretty much just sat there, every now and then turning a little bit. Obviously a little more wind was needed. A couple days later, my wish came true -- sort of.

It was a moderately windy day. I looked outside and saw my pinwheels spinning with delight. Then I looked towards the flamingo. All that was left was the bottom half of the stake. The bird was in four pieces scattered across my side yard. I still haven't found the top half of the stake. I think it fell under my deck, not to be seen for a few years.

All in all, I was very disappointed. I'm probably just going to stick with simple pinwheels for now.
