Everybody Loves Raymond
Everybody Loves Raymond will not be returning for the 2005-2006 season.
Everybody Loves Raymond ends its final season (2004-05) as television's most watched and highest-rated comedy. Starring standup comedian Ray Romano in the title role, the series revolves around Ray Barone, a successful sportswriter living on Long Island with his wife, Debra (Patricia Heaton), 13-year-old daughter, Ally, and 9-year-old twin sons, Geoffrey and Michael. That's the good news.
The bad news? Ray's meddling parents, Frank (Peter Boyle) and Marie (Doris Roberts), live directly across the street and embrace the motto "Su casa es mi casa," managing to infiltrate their son's home to an unparalleled extent. Frank's favorite expression, "Holy Crap!" is shouted at regular intervals and Marie's cooking and cleaning "advice" is less than appreciated by Debra. Ray's brother, Robert (Brad Garrett), a police sergeant, has finally moved out of his parents' house and married Debra's best friend, Amy (Monica Horan). Amy's uptight parents and anti-social brother make the family mix even more entertaining -- except for Ray and Debra, who just wish someone would knock.

Navy Cmdr. Harmon "Harm" Rabb (David James Elliott), an ace pilot turned lawyer, and Marine Lt. Col. Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie (Catherine Bell), a beautiful by-the-book officer, are colleagues who hold the same high standards but find themselves clashing when they choose different routes to get to the same place. ^ TOPJoan of Arcadia
Joan of Arcadia will not be returning for the 2005-2006 season.
Joan of Arcadia is a drama that follows a typical family facing atypical situations, not the least of which is their teenage daughter's conversations with God. A tough but soft-hearted police detective in Arcadia, Will Girardi (Joe Mantegna) dreams of providing a safe haven for his family and community. An outbreak of serious crime in his idyllic new town has challenged Girardi's desire for order, as have the ups and downs he faces with his family. Daughter Joan (Amber Tamblyn), an average teenager, has been acting a little strange. Most don't know that it has to do with the unusual way various people keep popping up, introducing themselves as God and then giving her specific directions to do things, such as get a job, join the debate team or volunteer with children. The appearances are hard for her to believe, even more so as she never knows who's going to turn up next. One minute it's a cute boy her own age, the next it's the lunch lady or a little girl. She'd been keeping it a secret from everyone, though she has finally revealed it to her artistic and generally sensitive boyfriend, Adam (Christopher Marquette), who believes she's been experiencing hallucinations.
Rounding out the Girardi family are her art-teacher mother, Helen (Mary Steenburgen); her 16-year-old science-geek brother, Luke (Michael Welch), and her older, newspaper-writer brother, Kevin (Jason Ritter), a former high-school sports star who is in a wheelchair as a result of a car accident. Joan's unlikely new best friend is her publicly caustic and rebellious, but privately insightful and supportive classmate, Grace (Becky Wahlstrom). Unsure of what God wants -- if God exists -- and if she's even sane, Joan tentatively follows God's cryptic directives, all the while trying to retain a normal teenaged existence.

Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Mercedes in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly wound brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), and Alan's son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), come to stay with him. Complicating matters further are Charlie's and Alan's narcissistic, emotionally toxic mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor); Alan's deeply neurotic ex-wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle); Charlie's domineering, unapologetically blue-collar housekeeper, Berta (Conchata Ferrell); and Rose (Melanie Lynskey), a brilliantly manipulative and vaguely crazy neighbor who had a brief fling with Charlie, is obsessed with him, and is determined to stay in his life by whatever means necessary. Despite the complexities of their lives and their own strained relationship, Charlie and Alan have one thing in common -- they both love Jake and want what's best for him. As a result, they manage to create a little family unit that promises to make each one of them a better man.
^ TOPWithout a Trace
Thursdays, 10pm (9 Central)

The team reconstructs a "Day of Disappearance" timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the disappearance and digs into every facet of the victim's life, following one simple rule: Learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia), a tough but compassionate, seasoned and astute professional, heads the dedicated team that knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His squad includes Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), an agent whose blonde good looks belie a tough, complex approach to her work; Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), a no-nonsense investigator with a special insight into victims' families; Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), whose sensitivity is often covered up by his street smarts, and the strait-laced Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), who joined the team as a result of his father's connections but has since earned his stripes. As the agents work on varied and complicated cases, details about their own lives continue to unfold.
| Without a Trace - The Complete First Season DVDThis four disc set includes all 23 episodes from the first season, with commentary on selected episodes. Also included are unaired scenes, and two featurettes: "The Motive", about the show's creation, and "Fingerprints" on the show's design. |
