Jack & Bobby
Jack & Bobby will not be returning for the 2005-2006 season.
What if you could watch the next great American president grow up? That compelling question is the idea behind this powerful new drama. If "greatness is thrust upon us," as Winston Churchill once said, then it stands to reason that those who are destined for greatness are rarely aware of it. Take Jack (Matthew Long) and Bobby McCallister (Logan Lerman) for example: two bright young brothers growing up under the watchful eye of their eccentric single mother Grace McCallister (Christine Lahti). Grace's personality is a force of nature destined to shape both of these young men's lives and secure one a place in the history books - as President of the United States.
Set in the fictional town of Hart, Missouri in the present day, the series details the relationship between these brothers and the people who shape their values and personalities, especially their mother. A brilliant college professor with an unconventional parenting style, Grace is struggling to let one son go and understand the other. Although she has no way of knowing she is raising a future president, it would not surprise her to know that her boys are destined for greatness. Jack is the big brother everyone wishes they had. A natural hero and a born leader, he seems to have everything going for him. He's the perfect role model for Bobby, who, with a big heart and a quick intellect, is nonetheless an undeniable social misfit. Bobby is caught between the rival forces of his mother and his brother, and it's impossible to please them both.

Their relationship is complicated by the fact that they are sharing a home with Fran's 21-year-old son, Josh (Ben Feldman), and 15-year-old daughter, Allison (Misti Traya), but Fran isn't complaining. Her new household may be non-traditional, but as she watches her old life intersect with her new one, Fran is sure this is right where she's supposed to be.

Aside from a love for hoops, it seemed that Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty) were two young men with little in common, but they were bound by the fact that they share the same father. Nathan has gone through significant changes since he and Lucas first met. The star of the high school basketball team, Nathan hails from a wealthy family, while his half-brother Lucas is the only child of a single working mom. He is also a legendary basketball player in his own right. After growing up on opposite sides of the tracks in the same small town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, the two boys' lives suddenly collided when a twist of fate put Lucas on Nathan's high school basketball team and the half-brothers competed, not only for control of the court, but also for the heart of Nathan's then-girlfriend Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton).
While the teenagers struggled to find their places in the world, the adults in Tree Hill were left to deal with the residue of decisions they made years ago. Nathan's father Dan (Paul Johansson) and Lucas' mother Karen (Moira Kelly) were high school sweethearts. When Karen became pregnant during their senior year, she was devastated by Dan's decision to put his own life and career first. He went off to college on a basketball scholarship, leaving Karen behind to raise their son Lucas alone. When Dan's dream of a basketball career didn't work out, he returned to town with Deb (Barbara Alyn Woods), the wife he met in college, and his new son, Nathan. Summerland is not returning for the 2005-2006 season.
Ava Gregory (Lori Loughlin) was exactly where she wanted to be in life. In her thirties, with a close-knit circle of friends, a great house in a beautiful California beach town and a growing career as a fashion designer, the last thing on her mind was settling down and starting a family. That all changed the day Ava's sister and brother-in-law were killed in an accident, leaving Ava to raise their three children.
Despite the tragedy they've endured and the sudden transition from rural Kansas to the beaches of Southern California, the kids are doing pretty well. Sixteen-year-old Bradin (Jesse McCartney) has his own adolescent angst to deal with, but he does his best to help his younger siblings. Twelve-year-old Nikki (Kay Panabaker) has always adored her aunt but sometimes resents Ava's attempts to fill her late sister's shoes. Eight-year-old Derrick (Nick Benson) has enough on his hands just trying to understand the big issues of life, death and family.
